BIOGRAPHY
Green-room nominee Lee Su Min is a multidisciplinary artist, interested in exploring the intersections between sound and movement. With deeply-rooted passions in music and dance, Su Min constantly seeks to push interdisciplinary artistic boundaries, challenging the connections between artforms as a composer, harpist, improviser, dancer, and pianist.
After graduating as the 2022 Prime Minister's Valedictorian from School of the Arts, Singapore, Su Min furthered her music studies at Monash University in Australia, where she was awarded the 2025 Sir John Monash Medal, 2025 University Medal for Academic Undergraduate Excellence, and the 2025 Prize for Best Overall Student in the Bachelor of Music upon graduation, amongst other awards. She also won the 2024 Allan Zavod Performers' Award, 2024 ANZCA Composition Scholarship, 2022 Composition and Music Technology Prize, and 2019 Outstanding Harp Creative Composition Award and Jury's Choice Award. Additionally, she received a Green Room nomination for Outstanding Sound Design in Independent Theatre for Beowulf: Reforged (2024) at Melbourne Fringe Festival, for which she was described as "an incredible harpist... who seemed to spin golden spiels of tune from her strings" (Sheather-Reid, 2024).
As a composer, Su Min's solo piano composition, Fly High, Butterfly (2025), has been published by ANZCA Music Examinations in the Associate Performer Diploma (Classical Pianoforte) 2025-2027 syllabus. Su Min was also commissioned by Syzygy Ensemble to write Chasing Shadows, an "entrancing new work" (Welch, 2023) that premiered at the Melbourne Recital Centre in 2023. It is described as having "a child-like instinct, an inner life of little threads that danced with an easy impulsiveness" (Laing, 2023).
As a harpist, Su Min has performed with the Monash Academy Orchestra and Monash Art Ensemble (2023-2025), and alongside artists including Paul Grabowsky, Nat Bartsch, Ngaiire, Sandy Evans, Raymond MacDonald, Mindy Meng Wang, and Robert Burke. She also clinched First Place in the 2020 Vienna Virtuoso Festival Season II Competition (Advanced Category).

Underpinning Su Min's artistic journey is the interdependency between music and dance. She has collaborated with dancers to write music for 6 choreographies and 1 pre-show segment in dACADEMY Singapore's annual dance production, BREATH (2022-2025), and co-directed and co-composed Chrysalis, a new hour-long devised Contemporary dance show by Monash Uni Student Theatre. As a harpist and dancer, Su Min has also been invited to perform at events, including the AJIRN 7 2024 Conference.
With a heart for community, Su Min is passionate about creating opportunities to champion local music and encourage collective art participation. She initiated and produced Interwoven (2025), an hour-long music concert that provided a platform for composers to premiere original music and collaborate with performers. The concert featured compositions by 9 students from Monash University's Composition and Music Technology stream, who workshopped and performed music with instrumentalists from the School of Music. A strong believer in making dance accessible to everyone, Su Min also creatively produced and facilitated Monday Contemporary Dance Workshops (2025) at Monash Uni Student Theatre - a series of weekly hour-long dance workshops open to anyone within the Monash student community. She also created opportunities for Monash students interested in sharing their movement practice to run their own workshops in selected weeks, and provided support and mentorship to them in the lead up to their workshops, encouraging a culture of learning, sharing, and growing together.
Su Min also enjoys independently writing and releasing albums revolving around the theme of “journeys”, drawing inspiration from her personal experiences of growing up. She has released 8 albums, 9 dance films, and multiple singles, and hopes to keep expanding her creative output.
Su Min is excited to continue diving deeper into the niche intersection between sound and movement and embark on further collaborations, while pursuing creative projects that connect with communities, to make art that brings people together and connects with you.
